Hi all,
I'm attaching the PHS Wrestling Newsletter we received today and comments from Coach Cotterman, Nick's coach this year about Nick and the team.
Blessings:)
Amy
Here it is:
Team,
In my opinion we have entered the most important week or our season! And with the weather last week, it has become even more important. This week will include our make-up dual against the Anthony Wayne Generals on Wednesday, our team dinner on Thursday, and the NLL Championships on Saturday at Rossford High School.
I want to congratulate the guys who participated at the Rossford Invitational Tournament. We filled 10 of the 14 weight classes and placed 2nd. Champions were Jamie Waltermeyer(119), Ryan Roth(130), Kadin Llewellyn(152), Luke Boff(171); 2nd place were Jake Fleming(140) and Tony Tomase(145); 3rd Alec Herhold(125); 5th Drew Shadler(130), Hunter Pachell(135), Hunter Tammarine(160); Andre Shephard(285). Congratulations guys! However, this will be the only time we take 2nd at Rossford!!!
Tonight, we will have a short practice after school with the bus leaving at 4:00pm. All wrestlers should attend. Weigh-ins starts at 5:00 with wrestling starting at 6:00p.m.
Thursday after practice we will get together for our team meal. This is a great way to just get the kids together before the league championships. It’s also great to see the kids bond outside of practice. This will start around 5:30-6:00p.m. We will need the food to be at the school between 5:00 and 5:15. Thank you to all for the donations & Leslie Roth for coordinating.
NLL Tournament Saturday, we will need the boys at the high school by 6:30am. Wrestling will start at 10:00am on Saturday. Please know that any team member may ride with us and support their teammates as this will be their Championship as well. The 14 who wrestle Saturday would not be where they are at without being pushed by their teammates every day. Also, we would not be where we are as a team if it were not for the entire team & without guys filling in when needed.
Regardless of how the season ends the team should be most proud of how they have grown as people, their character, compassion & heart. Last year Nick Hyndman decided he wanted to go out for the wrestling team. From the second he made it onto the mat, the boys have treated him as an equal. They encourage him, push him to work hard, help him develop his wrestling skills, and they goof around & tease him like any other wrestler on the team. To watch Nick walk out onto the mat, something he could not do a year & ½ ago, is inspiring and amazing. This is a true testament to how great PHS wrestling is & how proud we should be of these boys.
Please Congratulate Nick Hyndman for his hard work and toughness! He is an inspiration to all of us! Nick has been contacted by the Ohio High School Athletic Association to do an interview for their magazine. They are also making arrangements for Nick & his family to go to the state tournament in Columbus (March 3-5) where Nick will be recognized. Hopefully we will be sending some competitors down as well so Perrysburg will be well represented. When high school wrestling is a distant memory for these athletes, they may not remember their record or # of pins, but I am pretty sure they will remember Nick & the small part they played in is success!
Go Jackets!
